PoE Cameras
Some IP cameras are equipped with Power over Ethernet (PoE). PoE is a technology that makes it possible to transport both data and the power supply via one network cable. These cameras are ideal for mounting in places where there is no power supply, because no external power adapter is required. IP cameras are available with and without built-in PoE function. Use of a PoE camera
PoE only works if a PoE device is connected on both sides of the network cable. Not only the camera images, but also the power goes through the network cable. So only one cable goes from the recorder to the camera.
PoE can be offered in two ways, namely by a PoE switch or a separate PoE injector. The PoE switch can often provide multiple cameras, while a PoE injector is only for one camera. This injector is mounted between the connection of the camera (without PoE) and the cable from the rector (with PoE). Then the injector "splits" the power and data to two separate cables.
You can connect the PoE camera directly to a PoE network video recorder (nvr recorder).
